26. William Riley⁵ Varnell (James⁶) was born in Cherokee Co., Al. May 22, 1835. William died February 12, 1896 in Haimlton, Co., Tn., at 60 years of age.

He married Sarah Dorothy ( Sally ) Moore in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn., April 26, 1861. Sarah was born in Haimlton, Co., Tn. October 18, 1843. Sarah was the daughter of Richard Jones Moore and Margret Jane Pitner. Sarah died May 23, 1910 in Haimlton, Co., Tn., at 66 years of age.

William Riley Varnell and Sarah Dorothy ( Sally ) Moore had the following children:

27 i. Surrilda A.⁴ Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. April 6, 1862. Surrilda died August 1863 in Haimlton, Co., Tn., at 1 year of age.

28 ii. James Richard Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. December 11, 1863. James died September 19, 1896 at 32 years of age. He married Lillis Charlton Prekens.

29 iii. John L. ( Dr.) Varnell was born May 28, 1865. John died January 7, 1941 at 75 years of age. He married Emma L. Stewart.

30 iv. Wiiliam Holand (Rev.) Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. June 14, 1867. Wiiliam died January 10, 1960 at 92 years of age. He married Alma Card.

+ 19 v. Charles Lafayette Varnell was born January 27, 1871.

31 vi. Margret Ida Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. April 16, 1873. Margret died April 29, 1951 at 78 years of age. She married Robert Morris.

32 vii. Anderson Nelson ( Rev.) Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. March 1, 1876. Anderson died December 23, 1931 in Scottsboro, Ala., at 55 years of age. He married Pearl Isabell in Jackson Co., Ala., September 18, 1912.

33 viii. Thomas Douglas Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. October 17, 1877. Thomas died March 1, 1966 at 88 years of age. He married Barbra Bell.

34 ix. Doctor Frank Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. January 4, 1880. Doctor died July 27, 1947 at 67 years of age. He married Lottie Smith.

35 x. Joseph G. Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. February 1883. Joseph died November 12, 1944 in Piedmont, Ala., at 61 years of age. He married Ina Brock.

36 xi. Rosa Belle Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. August 1, 1886. Rosa died September 1, 1949 in Chattanooga, Tn, at 63 years of age. She married William Wood.

37 xii. Sarah D. Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. about 1888.

38 xiii. Sarah Evelyn ( Eva ) Varnell was born in Tyner, Hamilton, Co., Tn. October 27, 1888. She married Robert Morris,? Butler,? Scott.
