THE GINGERBREAD KIDS REVUE

( This play came from Copy Cat Magazine)

                                                 Introduction:

Song:  The Gingerbread Kids (Tune:  Jingle Bells).

                    Gingerbread kids, gingerbread kids,

Laughing as we play.

Oh, what fun to sing and dance,

    On this holiday.

Gingerbread kids, gingerbread kids,

Dressed up for our show.

We're so glad you could come.

We're ready, set let's go.  LET'S GO (shout)

      MRS. CLAUS

(A poem for a girl.  Wear specs, Santa hat, and apron.  Create

board cookies to be held up as props for poem)

Each Christmas Eve, when all work is done,

And Santa has packed up his sleigh,

I mix up a batch of gingerbread treats

For Santa to take on his way...

Gingerbread boys and gingerbread girls,

and gingerbread reindeer and stars.

Gingerbread bears and gingerbread trees,

And gingerbread dinosaurs.

One for each reindeer, one for each elf.

For Santa, the best of the bunch.

A sugary-sweet, delectable treat;

A gingerbread heart to munch.

           ALL KIDS:

            Let's make gingerbread!

SONG:  THIS WAY AND THAT WAY (Tune:  Hokey Pokey)

You pour the flour in, you pour the flour out,

You pour the flour in and you stir it all about,

You do the ginger twist and you turn yourself around,

Let's give a great big shout!  YEAH!

You knead the dough this way, you knead the dough that way,

you knead the dough this way and you pat it all about.

You do the ginger twist and you turn yourself around.

Let's give a great big shout!  YEA!

You roll the dough this way, you roll the dough that way,

You roll the dough this way and you roll and roll it out;

You do the ginger twist and you turn yourself around.

Let's give a great big shout!  YEA!

You cut the ginger boys, you cut the ginger girls out

You cut out the ginger kids and you place them all about.

You do the ginger twist and you turn yourself around.

Let's give a great big shout!  YEA!

You add some raisins here, you add some raisins there,

Make the eyes and nose and put the raisins all about,

You do the ginger twist and you turn yourself around.

Let's give a great big shout!  YEA!

You bake them here, and then you bake them there,

You bake 'em in the oven 'til they turn a golden brown.

You do the ginger twist and you turn yourself around.

Let's give a great big shout!  YEA!

GINGERBREAD BOYS

We are the gingerbread boys.

We love to play with our toys--

Rat-a-tat-tat!

Honkety-honk!

Zoom - zilly - zoom!

Bumpity-bump!

Pow!  Crash! Bang!

Clickety-clack!

GRRRRR!

We're the gingerbread boys.

We like to make a lot of noise.

GINGERBREAD GIRLS

We are the gingerbread girls.

With gingerbread lashes and curls.

Brown raisin eyes and tinkle-bell toes

Rosy red cheeks and pink button noses.

Bows in our hair and love in our hearts.

What do you think... can you tell us apart?

The gingerbread girls are we!

We're gingerbread sweet as can be!

INTERMISSION

SONG:  IF YOU LIKE GINGERBREAD

(Tune:  If you're happy and you know it)

If you like gingerbread, clap your hands.

(clap, clap)

If you like gingerbread, clap your hands;

(clap, clap)

Turn around and find your toes,

Stand up tall and touch your nose,

If you like gingerbread, clap your hands.

(Clap, clap)

SONG:  I'M A LITTLE GINGER KID

(Tune: I'm a Little Tea Pot)

I'm a little Ginger Kid,

In the oven I'm found

Raisins for eyes,

Nose so round.

Good enough to eat,

So toasty brown

Just pick me up

and munch me down!

SONG:  ON A HOLIDAY MORNING

(Tune: London Bridge)

Gingerbread kids are fun to bake, fun to bake, fun to

bake.

Gingerbread kids are fun to bake, on a holiday morning.

Add two raisins for the eyes, for the eyes, for the

eyes.  Add two raisins for the eyes

On a holiday morning.

Place a cherry for the nose, for the nose, for the nose.

Place a cherry for the nose, on a holiday morning.

In the oven it must go, it must go,

It must go.  In the oven it must go,

On a holiday morning.

Take it out when golden brown, golden brown

Golden brown.  Take it out when golden brown

On a holiday morning.

Frost it with a great big smile, great big smile,

great big smile.

Frost it with a great big smile.

On a holiday morning.
