Notes for JOHN CASE: John Case, the founder of the American branch of the Case family, was a native of England. He came from Aylesham, England where many of the family resided. They were a noted family as far back as the time of Oliver Cromwell. They accumulated their fortunes by furnishing leather for his army, being tanners and farmers. John moved to Simsbury, Conneticut in 1669. He was appointed the first constable and represented the town in the General Court in 1670 and for several years after. John's will was dated 1700 and is a lengthy document of eight pages. He then owned 17 parcels of land, a corn mill and a saw mill. His inventory showed he was a man of wealth for his day. Information derived from New England Families; Genealogical and Memorial and provided by Connie Jo Bare, 8th Great Granddaughter to John Case. 14

John was born 1615-16 in Gravesend, England. John married Sarah Spencer in 1657 at Windsor, CT. William, Thomas and John were all in Mathpeth Kills, LI, NY in 1639 and apparently all three came on the "Dorset" that year. Thomas and John were still in Mathpeth Kills in 1656, as Thomas served as a witness for John's letter of power of attorney. John lived out his life in Simsbury, CT. I have not found further info regarding William. Good Luck. 19
