We all went in today and to my surprise they were all attentive. I could see that my choice of topics was way over their heads so I opened it up to questions. The first child was grinning really big and I said no goofy questions. His was about the apostle Thomas as that is his name.
Then another child asked and it just was so orderly and all the questions were very good and the other teacher and office worker were also listening and amazed also. We all felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, and I told them all what it was that we were feeling and I tell you what; their eyes were as big as saucers.
One little girl had asked last week if she could have a new testament like the other girls had. I told her when she was ready to make a commitment to the Lord. Well today, she raised her hand and said, “Can I accept Jesus today?” I was just floored the way it happened and I said of course. Normally I go off with the person by them selves to say the prayer but today I just said repeat after me. She responded right in front of all the kids and every eye was on her. Then I shared how the angels are rejoicing over her decision and her name was getting written into God’s Book of Life. None of the children teased her or even joked around.
At this point I must tell you that this was planned to be a five, ten minutes top little study. We were already over 30 minutes and the questions just kept coming.
It was time to stop and get them doing their homework and as I was walking down to the next room one of the older boys came up and tapped my arm. He said, “Can I say the same prayer as she did?” Whoa! I am crying now as I started to cry then. I said, ‘I would be so happy to say that prayer with you.” I said, “How about over here? He took me to a place farther down the hall. He was the one asking so many questions about if Christians are all of part of this. He has attended Lutheran churches and was not sure if we all are Christians.
Well I was so blessed that when I went upstairs to get the New Testaments for these kids that I was just a blubbering mess.... There are now four of the children caring their little bibles around.
One of the little ones came up to me with the cutest smile and said the cutest thing. Was she old enough to know about God? I just hugged her and told her she was and that Jesus loves her. She ran back into the play ground very happy. Yesterday I had gone to the book store and I got them all bracelets of paper saying Jesus Loves Me.
I was just sharing my day with Paul and he is laughing and said. “Too bad you don’t do kids honey”. Maybe I did not share with you about that. Every time I attend a new church or go to any kind of meeting I always say first off. “I don’t do kids.” Hehehehehhehe! Well I might be hard headed but I think the Lord is trying to tell me something; not sure what yet, but am still listening.
