Orlando Concert Story
This Cynthia experience actually began on March 20, 1999, the day before the concert :O) Not only was I going to see Cynthia, but Marylynn from Texas was coming to Florida as well! So Saturday, my friend and I went up to Orlando and picked Marylynn up from the airport.
We went to Old Town that night, and had fun walking around, but our minds were on the next day!
We were up bright and early the next morning, because Cynthia was going to be singing at both morning worship services at First Presbyterian Church, as well as the concert that evening.
We got to the church with a little time to spare, and quicly sat right up front, sitting directly in front of the microphone that Cynthia was going to use. It was hard waiting, but finally 9am came, and out comes Cynthia from the side door! We waved and said hello, and she would have sat with us, had she not had a place she was to sit in.
One of the first things we noticed was that there were three arrangements of calla lilies up front! We knew this was going to be a good day, because the people at the church cared about Cynthia enough to put out her favorite flower.
The church service began, and there was sinigng and prayer, and announcements, and then it was time for Cynthia to sing!! The pastor introduced her, and then she sang "On Eagle's Wings," and it was absolutely beautiful!
The children's service and the pastor's message came next, and then, after prayer, we looked up, and Cynthia was on stage again! She sang "Seasons of the Soul," and then she led the congregation in "Spirit of the Living God." She looked down and smiled at us several times, so, needless to say, we were already floating, and the day had hardly begun! :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O) :O)
We stayed in the sanctuary for a little while after the first service. Marylynn went outside for a few minutes, and that is when I noticed that Cynthia's purse was sitting on the floor in front of where she had been sitting on the other end of the row!! I was so excited because I knew that Cynthia would have to come and get it. I waited for a few minutes, and, just as I was about to take it back to her, a lady from the church came and got it.
Marylynn came back, and were going to walk outside, when I saw the dressing room where Cynthia was. I tried to get Marylynn to knock on the door with me, but she didn't want to. We were going to walk away, when out comes Cynthia, straight toward us!!!!!!!!
She gave us both big hugs and we talked for a while. She let us take her picture by the calla lilies, and then she had to go back and get ready for the second service.
The second service was just about like the first one. Cynthia sang "Eagle's Wings" and "Seasons" again beautifully. Soon the service was over, and it was time to go. We went out to lunch and drove around Orlando for a little while, until it was time to come back to the church for the concert!
