Serlingpa Retreat Center is a branch in Mexico of the FPMT (Foundation for the preservation of the Mahayana Tradition), which is an International Buddhist Organization founded by Tibetan Lamas Ven. Lama Thubten Yeshe and Ven. Lama Zopa Rimpoche of Gelugpa lineage from Sera Monastery in Tibet.
According with the teachings of Buddha himself about love and kindness towards all sentient beings, Serlingpa Retreat Center has opened its facilities towards all othe religious groups whose goals are elevated towards the goodness of mankind.
Our aim is that all philosophic and religious groups may share together in harmony, love and mutual respect.
The retreat facilities are either for groups or for individual retreaters, in a land of 22 acres, which includes mountains, streams, cascades, ponds, woods, fruit trees, green house, etc.
LOCATION: Itīs 3 hours far from Mexico City, in the countriside of the Michoacan State, surrounded by green mountains and the woods of the Monarch Butterflies, nearby the city of Zitacuaro.
GROUP CAPACITY: We count with 80 beds (10 dormitories), special room for teachers , and a special house for Lamas. Temple capacity for more than 150 people and also a big dinning room.
OTHER FACILITIES: Library with books in spanish and english, easy public transportation to the nearby city which is 15 minutes far away. Medical care inside the Center. Fax, Email, telephone, shopping centers,etc. available in the City. English, Spanish spoken, in the Center. Statuasm Tsatsas, tangkas, and all other items used for tibetan rituals, and worship articles.
SPORTS AND ADVENTURES TOURISM IN THE AREA: We count with a tourist guide in order to do mountain climbing, mountain bike, rafting, canoing, etc. Nice visits to rivers, huge cascades, the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries (Nov. til March), horse riding, sailing, cave exploring,etc. All either walking distance or driving half an hour in average. |
