Help Notes

If Jesus was on earth today, He might remind us that we have diluted our sense of moral value with apathy and greed; we have mixed our love with selfishness and we have thrown out the "golden rule" and crushed it under our feet.

1. Why is salt so important in our lives?

3. What would you say are the characteristics of being the "salt of the earth"?

4.What is God calling us to be every day?

5.What is the analogy between salt and Christians?

You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity. The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful. Christ's message in all its richness must live in your hearts. Teach and instruct each other with all wisdom. Sing psalms, hymns, and sacred songs; sing to God with thansgiving in your hearts. Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father. Col 3:12-17

How can you change these things?

It is easy to look like a Christian. We may go to Church every Sunday. We may talk about God and how much He means to us. We may do all this and still be only sand. Christianity, like salt is no good unless it is used. Christianity, like salt, preservatives what is good and prevents its decay. Christianity like salt, leaves evidence of where it has been without being visible. Remember friends, we can look like the salt of the earth, we can appear to speak with grace seasoned with salt, but if we have lost the fundamentals that make us Christians (ie, personal faith and belief in Christ),  then we are only sand and will be thrown out and trodden under foot.

What do we all need to do for our lights to shine bright in today's world?

Salt
If you have things that need putting right with God, take time now
and talk with Him about them.

Lord help us to be as salt today. Let our lives influence those that we come in contact with, just as salt seasons all it touches. Help us deal with areas you have brought to mind. Give us grace in speech and thought and deed, so that these all give glory to you. Let us truly be "salt of the earth" every day. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Colossians 4:6
Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may

know how you ought to answer each one. (NKJV)
