My husband and I raise Tennessee Walking Horses and can't praise them enough. Their easy ride first attracted our attention, but their gentle nature totally captivated us. Friends and visitors to our farm are astounded by how sociable these horses are. I have grouped some pictures together to make an image carousel . These are notoriously slow loading objects. So, please be patient. I'll try to provide a diversion. This is a true story about one of our horses. Mystery is a black Tennessee Walker mare. She is gentle and beautiful. Once, while riding her through a neighboring apple orchard, a large dog crashed out from under a picking ladder. Mystery turned around suddenly and because I was riding bareback; I slipped. I found myself hanging from her neck. I lost my grip and fell. I thought that my leg was broken. My horse was gone and I had no idea if I could limp home. A lady in the orchard came to see if I was all right. Then, I heard a shrill whinny. I called out Mystery's name and she came running to me. The woman in the orchard helped me mount. I rode home badly bruised, but my leg wasn't broken. I have always felt that Mystery was looking for me. She had been in the orchard many times and knew her way home. She could have run home to her friends and barn. Her actions have reinforced my belief in the disposition of the Tennessee Walking Horse.
