Virginia's Smokey Black Skies
by my 10 year old grandson,
Ethan Marshall

Virginia lay in ruins
With smokey black skies,
The battle raged
Blue and grey died.

The old dominion thought to win all
Come civil war the dominion will fall,
The blue, they fought to free the slaves
Throught the night the battle raged.

The blue they fought to make things right
The ships unseen in dead of night,
The only light in smokey gloom
Was flash of muskets, glow of moon.

The dominion had fallen
The war had passed,
The slaves were free
And that's the last.
