Husband's Notes
He was Christened at the Blue Mountain Reformed Church in Berks County, Pennsylvania. He married two or three times. His first wife Catherine, was the mother of his first child and possibly his first five children. He must have been living on Rockingham County, Virginia by 1788, as that is where his son, Christian Jr.., said he was born in that year. By Sep 1801 he and a brother, Simon, owned land in nearby Augusta County. A few years later, probably in 1811, the family moved to Botetourt County, where he presumably was living when he died in the summer of 1824, as his will dated 24 Jul 1824 was probated there in October 1824. Virginia records consistently spell the name as Loop, so it seems to have been with Philip that the name changed from Lupp to Loop. He was a farmer and quite likely he still spoke German.
