From Little Compton Families Died 21 Aug 1705. Residence: Boston,Portsmouth and Little compton. He married in Boston 8 April 1653 ALICE STONARD, dau of John and Margaret Stonard. In the Boston records his wife's name is listed as Alice Stanare. He may have been born in 1628, the son of John Shaw, who came to Salem, Mass. in 1628 from a town near Halifax, Yorkshire, England. In Portsmouth 20 April 1665, he bought from Philip Tabor, a house and ten acres of land for 40 pounds and 300 good boards. His inventory, dated 1 Oct. 1705, listed 213 pounds, 12s, 2d, a cow, grindstone, silver money 9 pounds, Negro man 30 pounds, etc.

From Little Compton Families According to local records he sold to his brother-in-law, John Cook of Tiverton, two parcels of land in Portsmouth, a right to Hog Island, buildings, orchards, etc for 202 pounds 10s.
