My grandmother was a special woman. Always aware that she
came from good people, she was the one who interested me in preserving a family
history beginning when I was a small child. She would be pleased with the what
can be accomplished on the web. After I was born my grandparents lived on the
farm near Guttenburg. Grandma returned to Upper Iowa University to update her
teaching credentials. She taught in a one room school house near Guttenburg,
grade one through eight. Her students thought the world of her and she
influenced a great many lives with her wonderful teaching skills and personal
example. Later on she moved into the Guttenburg school in town.
