Making Chalkboards
Materials Needed:
- Hardboard - 24" x 30"
- 24" length of 1/4 round molding
- Chalkboard paint
- Acrylic paints and paintbrushes
- Images to trace
- Hot glue gun
Step-By-Step Instructions:
- Apply two coats of chalkboard paint to the hardboard and let dry.
- Paint the molding with chalkboard or acrylic paints and let dry.
- Trace images onto chalkboard and fill in with acrylic paints.
- Hot glue the molding to the bottom of the board so that one flat edge
rests against the board and the other flat edge faces up.
- To create a frame, use basic 2" flat board strips cut to the dimension
of the board and hot glue onto the outside edges. You can trace images
onto the frame and fill with acrylic paint. HINT: ( For great results)
use calcium carbonate chalk and felt erasers. Clay chalk will tend to permanently
scratch the surface.
