Crackle Swan
Materials Needed:
- Paper mache swan, or a paper mache of your choice
- Acrylic paints: wine; antique white; black
- Crackle medium
- Acrylic antiquing medium
- linseed oil (thinner)
- 1"sponge brush
- Peach paper ribbon or a color of your choice 1 ½ yards
- Assorted dried flowers
- Floral wire
- White craft glue
- MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS: scissors; ruler; plastic container; measuring
cup; paper towels; household sponge
Step-by-step Instructions
- Sponge brush a base coat on the entire swan with 2 coats wine paint;
let dry. Paint the swan beak black.
- Apply 2 coats of crackle medium let dry overnight, this give a better
crackling results.
- Use a household sponge to paint a heavy coat of antique white on the
entire swan. Let dry.
- Mix 1 teaspoon of antique medium with 1/4 cup of linseed oil (thinner)
in a plastic container.
- Use a paper towel to coat the swan with this mixture. Wipe excess with
a clean paper towel. Let dry throughly.
- Untwist paper ribbon and glue a paper ring around the swan's neck slightly
overlapping ends. Use remaining ribbon to make a single or a Five loop
bow; wire to One side of neck.
- Glue dried flowers between bow loops.
