Velvet Terra-cotta Pots

Materials Needed:

    1. 9"x 4 1/2" tall terra-cotta pot
    2. Gold paint
    3. Velvet
    4. 1/2" x 3/8" flat gold braid
    5. 3/8" wide gold cording

Step-By- Step Instructions:

    1. Paint the terra-cotta pot gold.
    2. Cut 7 ( 3 1/8" long ) panels of velvet, tapering slightly so that the top widths is 2 1/4" and bottom width is 1 3/8".
    3. Space evenly and hot glue panels of velvet to the pot, starting just under the rim and finishing on the bottom side of the pot.
    4. Cut 14 (3 1/8" long ) length of 1/2" wide gold braid and glue on either side of each velvet strip, covering raw edges of fabric.
    5. Cut a 28 1/2" x 3 1/2" strip of velvet and glue around the rim, covering the bottom edge of the rim and turning fabric over the top of the rim.
    6. Cut 2 ( 28 1/2" long ) lengths of 3/8" wide flat gold braid to cover the top and bottom of the rim and glue into place.
    7. Cut the gold cording into two pieces, a 36" length and 41" length. Tie the cords together at both ends. Keep the shorter length on the top so the longer lengths hangs below in the shallow arc. Divide into 3 equal sections and knot the cords together at the divisions. Hot glue the cords into place with the knotted ends meeting at the back.

You can do this to almost any type or shape of pot if you wish!
