He was married to Sarah SHAFFER (daughter of Balthaser SHAFFER Esq. and Margaret EPPINGER) on Feb 11 1802. Sarah SHAFFER was born on Apr 9 1785. She died on Nov 8 1802. Her tombstone was found at entrance to Dutch Island. She was buried in Liberty Island, now called Dutch Island..

He was married to Mary Ann WINGATE on Oct 13 1807. Married by the Rev. Bergman. Married either Oct. 5 or 13, 1807. Capt. George HERB and Mary Ann WINGATE had the following children:
