genealogical research in Missouri:
For vital records, write to:

- They have birth and death records since January 1910, and marriage and divorce indexes since July 1948. For births and deaths occurring in St. Louis, St. Louis County, or Kansas City previous to 1910, contact the City or County Health Department. For marriage records, you can also contact the Recorder of Deeds in the County where the license was issued. For divorce records, you can also check with the Clerk of Circuit Court in the County where the divorce was granted.

- Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00, Thursday 8:00-9:00, Saturday 8:30-3:30, closed Sunday and holidays.
- They have vital statistics, wills, probate records, census records, Supreme Court records, tax records, photo collections, French and Spanish land grants prior to the Louisiana purchase, abstracts from federal government land sales, church records, cemetery records. A SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with your return address on it) is required for information. Only one question will be answered at a time.
