Not long ago, I was told that I may loose my RC to
cancer. I was told
if the biopsy was positive,
I'd have possibly months, probably weeks
left with him. I thank
God that his biopsy came back negative. I'd
been through this 4 years
ago when I lost RC's uncle, Charlie, to
cancer and did not want to
go through it again.
While I waited for the biopsy
to come back I spent time looking for
somewhere to go for support
from others who were living with
cancer in their pets and
knew, really knew, what it was like. I
couldn't find anyplace to
go.
In Charlie's memory and with
thankfulness for the support I've recieved
this past week while I waited
for RC's biopsy to come back, I've
created a new list.
Named for what our animals
give us, Endless Love is open to anyone
who has a pet with cancer,
regardless of what kind of pet, cancer or
type of treatment they are
choosing. It's a place for sharing the good
times and the bad with others
who really understand, for sharing
information and asking questions.
It is not meant to replace medical
care or to guide treatment,
that can only be done by your veterinarian.
You'll find that the people here understand, really
understand,
what you're going through because they've been there.
They've had to wait for test results and know
how hard it is to wait.
They've had to make the same decisions.
They hear the same comments
from non-doggy family and co-workers. They have the
same questions
you'll have with adapting your and your dogs life
to this. They feel the
same frustration and rage at something that shouldn't
be happening.
And they struggle with deciding what treatments to
follow and
what is not right for them and their dogs.
I have to say, I am in awe of the caring and knowledge
exchange
that I see happen here and I want you to know that
if you need us, we're here.
