Stalder, 87, prominent farmer and stockman and president of the Stalder Cattle company, who lived seven miles southwest of Salem, died at 10:35 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 1974, at Community hospital here. He had been hospitalized at various times since April of this year, and entered the hospital the last time last Monday, Oct 21.
Mr. Stalder was born Oct. 31, 1888, [Obituary says 1888, but has been a seven written over the last 8 to make it 1887] south of Humboldt, a son of the late J. O. Stalder and Louisa Frey Stalder. He moved from his birthplace to the family home in the Honey Creek community in 1895 with his parents and family and had lived on the farm since.
Aug. 23, 1912, he was married to Miss Mae Crook. She died Apr. 21, 1931. He was married to Miss Erva Wuster July 19, 1936, at Dawson.
Mr. Stalder was a member of the Bethel United Methodist church in Dawson and previously was a member of the former Zion United Church of Christ, southwest of Dawson, for 80 years. He was a member of the Falls City Rotary club and a member of the board of directors of the Richardson County Bank and Trust company. He served as a member of the school board at Honey Creek for 27 years, most of which time he was the chariman.
Besides his wife, Mr. Stalder is survived by a son, Merle Stalder, Falls City; a daughter, Mrs. Hoover. (Mellicent) Adams, Dunn, N.C.; a brother, Bennet Stalder, Salem; three grandchilder and two grant-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
The body of Mr. Stalder is here at the Dorr Funeral Home. The funeral will be held in their chapel at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Rondal Couch of Dawson. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

Vida Belle Waltz, 83, formerly of Cogan Station and Fink Ave., Williamsport, died Sunday, August 4, 2002, at the Williamsport Home. Born September 18, 1918, in Old Lycoming Twp., she was the daughter of William A. and Miriam Sweeley Fink.
Vida had worked for the former J.C. Penney’s in Williamsport.
The widow of C. Elmer Waltz Sr., who died February 24, 1988, she is survived by three sons, Charles E. (Eileen)Jr., Ronald E. (Betsy) of Cogan Station, and David W. (Donna) of Harrisburg; a daughter, Anne Marie Weaver of Indiana; and seven grandchildren, Kay Lynn, Aaron (Christie), Marc (Kylene Pecht), Christopher M. and Bryan Waltz, Anthony J. (Margaret) and Rebekah A. Weaver.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. Jeff J. Williams of Memorial Baptist Church, Williamsport, officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery, Hepburn Twp. Friends may call at the funeral home, 10-11 a.m. Thursday.

General Notes: Edna M. Heim, 92, of 406 Highland Terrace, Williamsport, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at her residence. Born Feb. 20, 1909, in Balls Mills, she was the daughter of Maurice and Elizabeth Hyde Snyder.
The oldest member of the Balls Mills United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School for over 30 years and sang in the choir for over 40 years. She was a member of the church’s quilting group and its women’s missionary society.
She and her husband, J. Roscoe Heim, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 19, 2002.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her daughter, Elizabeth J. Kilheeney of Williamsport; a grandson, Jay W. Kilheeney and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Emily and Cory Kilheeney.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Balls Mills United Methodist Church with her pastor, Rev. James R. Sunderland, officiating. Friends will be received in the church Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
