Breckenridge
Ski Trip
We
were spoiled this year with our first ski in-ski out condo at the Tyra
Resort on Four O'Clock Rd. Our condo was the forth window from the left.
Kathy is standing on Four O'Clock Run which is the hill which lead us back
each day. After this it will definitely be hard to go back to the rustic
cabins of Ellicotteville, NY.
One memorable event occured at Keystone Resort on our third day of skiing. On our initial trip to the top of the mountain, our gondolas suddenly stopped. We spent 45 minutes rocking on a cable, wondering what the evacuation plan would be. No one was concerned until the chair lift next to the gondolas, which no one would be crazy enough to ride unless the gondolas were broken, started passing us full of people. I believe my quote when we were stuck at the top was, "If I have to climb down from, I'm getting something free out of this." I also must send my apology to the parents of the two 11 year-olds riding up with us, my explatives weren't intentional I assure you.
Another successful year in the infirmary as well. Beyond a couple cases of altitude sickess, Alicia being the worst, and myself pulling a back muscle on the way home by grabbing a suitcase we all came back in one piece. However we all commented on the increase in helmet usage on the slopes after the Bono-Kennedy incidences.
The
picture on the left was taken at Keystone on the third day. We finally
had some sunshine this day and temperatures began to rise. The mountain
in the background was one of the many steep mogal runs at Keystone. The
black spot in the lower left of this picture is Andy. On the right is one
of the many trails that weaved through the trees, unfortunately I was unable
to avoid all of them.

Pat and Brian happy to be at Keystone. Little did they know that they would have a 45 minute rest in the Keystone gondolas.

It's really coooolllllddd..
