Holy Trinity Parish Church, Wibsey (Low Moor)

Although it is beyond the boundary of the area which is now regarded as Wibsey, it is important to remember that Holy Trinity Church, Low Moor, was originally, in 1606, named and for over two centuries - indeed nearly three - referred to as Wibsey Chapel. This is the reason why St Paul's Church is know as Buttershaw parish church. Nowadays there is no parish of Wibsey, whilst Low Moor has two parishes. All very confusing, especially for the uninitiated! At the time Wibsey Chapel of Ease was build in 1606 and consecrated in 1636 it was, and for many years remained, the only Anglican church between its mother church of St Peter, Bradford (now the Cathedral) and the Bradford parish boundary to the south of the town.
