How to get your copy of the Tordoff Database

I hope everyone will agree to do is to submit copies of their family tree, as well as any data they may have on persons not in their tree. For reasons of privacy, no living individual's data should be submitted without their permission. In return you will receive a copy of the full database for a nominal sum to cover postage and diskettes.

Copies of the database are otherwise available to members of the Tordoff Family History Society for a nominal sum (to pay for postage) in return for contributions of at least 20 new Tordoff events, though I hope members will consider this a worthwhile project and agree to share all their data on Tordoffs. If possible data should be provided in GEDCOM format or in the same format as the Tordoff database- a blank database or spreadsheet or printed paper can be supplied on request.

If you submit your tree, I will assign it the next available "tree number", and attempt to match any entries in the existing database to your data, entering your tree number against each name.

Sources of information should always be quoted. NB I will only enter new "events" into the database from anyone's tree or submitted data if the specific source for the data is quoted. Your tree number may be allocated to an existing event.

If a name is found already belonging to an existing tree, I will advise you and hope you will contact the earlier submitter, so you can jointly "collapse" your trees into one. (By following this process, and with a great deal of luck and hard work, we could end up with a single "great tree".)

I will forward a copy of the whole database to you in the format you request (not printed please - it's already huge).

Formats Available

The database is held in Microsoft Access 7.0, and can be supplied in the following formats (please state your preference):

Please tell me if you have PKZIP/PKUNZIP and know how to use them - if you don't understand this question, you don't.
