Some samples of my writing

Extract from my first novel....not finished...... maybe when I retire!

Our setting is the year 2300 when as one could imag ine what has befallen humanity ..... Just never happened. There is of course space travel, and we have colonized far reaching planets. There is no hyper space, or hyper space travel. Space travel is limited by speed that has not exceeded light.... Yet! Many things on earth have changed, but yet remained the same. Politics and economics still rule, but fewer powers have the might or the money to continue their fight. There are fewer hungry countries but more exploited peoples. \par The geography has changed as predicted because of the so called greenhouse effect. Deserts are drier, oceans are larger and much of the land has become a swamp.

Triack, now aged 28, has come to the belief that his destiny is to somehow change the course of the world, to look upon the past and take strength in the errors of the civil world...to turn the apathy of the vast populations, to unite and lead those souls to a new age

Triack was abruptly brought back to reality by a co-worker. Asyndra Magile was younger than Triack but older in many ways. Her innocence was but skin deep, her beauty ravishing with long golden brown hair. Playing Triack's conscience she swept his elbow that supported his chin, his face falling to the table as he regained awareness.

"What the heck....! Oh it's you Asyndra!" He says slightly startled. She points out, "You should not wander off so deeply Triack, you may have been observed had I not intervened."

"Striking lasers Asyndra, you'll have me believe that someone is watching over me. You have been reading to much Twentieth cen-tury political trash? I know you may think I am a bit too con-cerned but you know all the people working for Dr. Dercy are being scrutinized ever since the government has put some money behind his work. Please Asyndra, there is no need to be so concerned, I am doing no one any wrong, if anything I may be helping. Just let me do my programs."

Asyndra looking down at her feet, glances at her wrist to see the hour, humbly apologizes. "I'm sorry, I will let you work. See you! Probably at shift end."

He becomes entrenched as one of his seeker programs calls his attention to a monitor.

She walks away slowly talking to a nearby mail robot sorting it's cache. People at an ear's length ignoring her mumbling. Asyndra was in deep thought. Puzzled by something Triack had said, almost casually "someone is watching over me". Had he meant this or was he jesting.

She had been working for the Sciences Department of the Uni-ve-rsity of Colorado for many years and had heard of a stra-nge thing happening on a government research program in the past. How people just suddenly disappeared just prior to a break through in some type of research. Nothing was ever linked with the government. She learnt of this misadvent-ure, she so liked to refer to it, one evening when Triack had been work-ing late compiling some research material for his pro-gram.

He had come upon a University file talking of molecular research based on antimatter and it's effects. When he tried to complete the viewing of the file it just abruptly termin-ated. He made nothing of it until the next day after talking with the head of his section and returning to an empty file. Triack later explained this to Asyndra and together they re-searched this project only to find a complete research team had ceased to exist just prior to a government announcement of a new periodic table taking into account the effects of anti-mater in the shaping of molecules.

This had not bothered Triack so much. He just assumed that they were given good jobs in their leading technological fields. Asyndra, who's father had been an award winning jour-nal-ist before he died, used her inherited investigative research ability to do some digging.
