for U.S.A. Disaster Relief
channeled through The Canadian Red Cross Society
Well,
blisters and pin holes in our fingers have healed over, our tables are
cleared of ribbon, glue and pins, money has been counted and our trip to
The Red Cross Society office has concluded.
A
tragic cause started our ribbon campaign but throughout it we met with
true compassion as we went along. We met some wonderful people and were
truly inspired by the outpouring of generousity we encountered.
Thanks
to 'our community', on January 9th, 2002 we were able to attend at our
local Red Cross office and turn over a cheque in the amount of $ 5,212.57
for the USA Disaster Relief Fund. At the cheque presentation we were honoured
to be able to meet and chat with 2 of our local Red Cross volunteers who
had actually gone to New York to help - wonderful people who gave of themselves
in the most unselfish of ways and who had to face it all first hand - Kudos
to them!! (((())))
Thankyou
allllllll from the bottom of our hearts - hopefully we all helped and made
a little difference when it was needed most!
To
all of the families who lost loved ones that tragic day - please know we
all have you in our hearts and prayers. We hope that every day gets just
a little easier and the pain just a little less.

Here is the original
poem without the 'ribbons'.
September 11th
We watched in horror
and disbelief
Everyone united
in unimaginable grief.
Planes dropping
from the sky.
Buildings crumbling,
everyone asking Why?
So many innocent
people died
Strangers embraced
and cried.
Heroes fell doing
what they do...
Their wings were
earned long before their lives were through.
For this there is
no reason or rhyme...
Healing and rebuilding
will take unmeasurable time.
Silent moments will
be interrupted
By the day freedom
and innocence were corrupted.
Beyond September
11th there will remain...
Unbearable pain
Loss and sorrow
That will last through
every tomorrow.
In that way...
We will stand united
everyday!
