"'Twas The Night Before
Christmas at OUR House!"
by Kire
'Twas the night before
Christmas, and all through the house,
Everyone was excited,
yes, even the mouse!
The stockings were hung
on the quilt rack with care,
In hopes that they'd
be so filled...
They'd fall off there!
The children were restless,
all tossing in bed,
While visions of chocolate
bars danced in Mom's head.
And Daddy already snoring,
and I trying to hide,
All the chocolate wrappers
I had by my side,
When out in the yard
there arose such a clatter,
I jumped from my bed
to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I
did dash
Tore open the blinds
with a mighty crash!
The moon lit the yard
and I saw all the snow
With who knows what
buried underneath you know!
When what to my wondering
eyes did appear,
But a shiny red ski-doo
and eight tiny reindeer.
With an old driver,
so lively and quick,
I was thinking, I'm
glad that door lock did click!
More rapid then geese
his reindeer they came,
And he shouted "We're
in Canada"
and called them by name;
Now DASHER now DANCER
now PRANCER and VIXEN!
On COMET on CUPID on
DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the igloo
EH,
Now you all dash, dash
away!"
So up to the top the
reindeer they flew,
With the ski-doo full
of goodies and the big guy too!
And then , in a thump
I heard on the roof
The banging and scratching
of each little hoof.
As I grabbed some chocolate
and was turning around
Right through the locked
door?? he came with a bound!
He was dressed all in
fur from his head to his toes,
He looked like a teletubbie
in Christmas clothes!
A bundle of toys he
had flung on his back,
I prayed he had chocolate
somewhere in that sack!
His eyes how they glittered,
his dimples how cute
Even in spite of that
big red suit!
His little mouth was
drawn in a big "OH"
And the beard on his
face was as white as new snow.
He had a round face
and a round belly,
That shook when he laughed
like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump,
a right jolly ole elf,
And I laughed when I
saw him, thinking he looked like myself!
He spoke not a word,
but filled the stockings with ne'er a stall,
Til down to the ground
they did fall!
And laying his finger
beside his red nose,
And giving a nod, out
the door he went on all 10 toes.
He sprang to his ski-doo,
to his team gave a shout,
And away they all flew
like water down a spout.
But I heard him explain
as he drove out of sight;
"MERRY CHRISTMAS EH!!!
AND HAVE A GOOD NIGHT!"
