After we get checked into our apartment, we start to
unload the car. If you need help in unloading your
car, the office will send a couple of students over
to help. You are required to furnish your linens,
dishes, cooking utensils, silverware, blankets, or
anything else you need. If you want TV, you have to
bring your own or rent one. TV cable is furnished to
all apartments. All of the furniture is furnished
with the apartment. They have good frost
free refrigerators, electric stoves and a
microwave.
This apartment complex has 10 buildings with 146
units. There are three laundries, and a swimming
pool. The grounds are kept up real nice, with flower
beds and green grass throughout the complex that is
mowed once a week.
Jane likes to feed the animals and birds that come
around the apartment. She feeds the ducks, birds and
the squirrels. Click on enter for slide pictures

The Matador Apartment management and the Fort Collins
Senior Center work together on a program for all "Sun
Birds". Sun Birds is a tag that is attached to us
senior citizens coming to the Matador Apartments for
the summer. The Senior Center has a coordinator
assigned to the Matador for the summer to put on a
program of events, trips, pancake breakfasts,
[that is me cooking pancakes] potlucks, ice cream
socials, and whatever else that they can come up
with. At the end of the summer they put on a going
away dinner. If you do everything that is on the
schedule, you are kept real busy. They put out a
Calendar of Events for each month. You have to sign
up ahead of time for these events.
The Fort Collins
Senior Center is one of largest that I have ever
seen. They have a swimming pool with a jogging path
going around the top part, a weight lifting area,
lockers and showers, a billiards room, card rooms, a
large dining hall that can be divided into two
different dining rooms.
