This lighthouse is nestled on the bank of the dormant
volcano, Diamond Head, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, just a short drive
from downtown Honolulu.
We stumbled upon it quite by accident as we were walking down from the highway to gain a better vantage point to watch the surfers in the summer of 1995.
It was built in 1899, and then rebuilt with a reinforced concrete tower in 1917. This tower was first lit in 1918 and is still in use. The third order fresnel lens is the original lens. This site is not open to the public.
