The Old Hilton Head Island Light is no longer in service. It was originally a rear light. Sailors would align the lights from the two lights and at that point set a heading as they navigated these waters.

The tower is located in Leamington on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, thus the name by which it is now called.

The lighthouse is located on private property on the Arthur Hills golf course at Palmetto Dunes and is not generally accessible to the public. We were privileged to be able to visit it in March, 2000, during a stay on the Island.
