The rear light faces the Gulf of Mexico on Boca Grande Island, near Port Charlotte, Florida. Boca Grande lighthouse itself is quite different in style from this one.

This photo was taken during the summer of 1999, on a lengthy day trip from St. Petersburg Beach to Sanibel Island. It's a long drive, but we found it pleasant and scenic. Along the way, we made photos of Sanibel Island Light, the two lighthouses on Boca Grande Island, and Egmont Key, just south of St. Petersburg Beach.
