The future as I see it for myself
It was some years ago when I was filling out an admission form for a university, for a postgraduate program. One of its sections asked, how do you see yourself in the future? The first column asked it for "five years down the line", the next asked it for "ten years" up the road. I filled it rather casually, as yet another question in the forms for admission. I thought for just a day or two before filling it. I said something like, a professional career in the area of study for the five years that follow my post graduation, and an academic+operational career for the next five years based on my experience. Then I would like to do my Ph.D. in a more well defined precise area of my choice, and following that, a formal academic+operational+research career for the rest of my life.
Interestingly, I learned later on that the life is neither so predictable nor so projectable. The questions answered were not untrue of my feelings, but not necessarily to be following the same path I thought. I was more fortunate in that matter, than I thought ! I am an Assistant Professor now, just five years after my first graduation !!! Praise be to the God.
With a first degree in medicine, an experience in health care management, a post graduation in Health Information Sciences (for health systems management), research focus on telemedicine (covering all of its technique, technology and methodology of management), and exposure to academics, I wish to see myself as a pioneer in telemedicine in Pakistan. I have learned about myself to be the only person in Pakistan (to the best of my knowledge and belief), formally qualified in this field. This puts me at an edge, I certainly would like to allow benefit me and my people.
I plan to start a Telemedicine project in Pakistan, very soon, with finances as my only limitation and obstacle, I am trying to take care of. I wish to develop a national telemedical network in Pakistan, fully capable of ensuring the best medical management (preventive, curative, and palliative) within the country, and connected to the international network(s) of organisations in health care, for services that are not available in Pakistan. It will work in three dimensions. One, to offer the services not available in Pakistan, to the people who need them. Second, to offer the same services to the people outside Pakistan through setting up international hubs for these services. (Any organisation / individual interested in this business can contact me for further details). Third, offer the management of same / similar services to the service provider organisations outside Pakistan which do not contain the expertise in this field.
To see my first steps to this goal, you might like to visit the links/network site medi-tech, that I manage purely for service. You may wish to contribute to this cause in various ways, even by some words of appreciation or critique :)
That was all about my professional future as I want to see it. Now about my personal life. Well, not much to say actually, so I did not put it here on this page. It will certainly not interest most of my visitors to this site.
I guarantee you will not like it! But if you are sure you want to know! positively! the choice is yours. Come along...
