I give and bequeath unto my son Paul twenty shares in the Planter & Mechanixs Bank and Six Negroes, namely Jack, Neilly, Diannah, Clarissa, Sam and Josiah...I give and bequeath unto my daughter Polly twenty shares in the Planter & Mechanics Bank and the following Negroes namely Judith, Rose, Smart, Abram, Juba, and Bob... I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth a girl named Pat... I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph ten shares in the United States Bank and a Negro boy named Bob... I give and bequeath unto my son Robert a negro fellow named Ainsby... I give and bequeath unto my son Arnoldus a negro fellow named Amos... I give and bequeath unto my son Jonah a negro named Nellyand Harry... I do hereby manumit and set free my wench Sueand give and bequeath unto her two hundred dollars for her support and maintenance. I do also manumit and set free Sue's two children namely Mark and Sue. It is also my will and desire and I do hereby enjoin it on my executors herein named to manumit and set free John,Ned, and Rachel as they shall severally arrive of age. And I do hereby not only fully authorize my executors to carry the above manumitting clause of this will into effect, but do hereby revoke, set aside and declare null and void all and every gift or legacy to such of my sons made as are named executors to this will who shall either neglect or refuse to execute certificates of freedom within twelve months after my death to Sue and her two children and to John, Ned, Rachel within six months after they shall severally arrive of age and the share and legacy's so forfeited shall return to the bulk of my estate and be equallydivided between my other children, not offending, share and share alike. |
