Mr. William HEFFRON
Dead
Well-known Citizen Passed Away Tuesday Evening _Mr. William HEFFRON died on the evening of September 10, after a lingering illness. Mr. HEFFRON had been complaining for a long time, but no one thought that his end was so near. In his death Charleston has lost one of its progressive citizens, who will be missed in financial circles. His familiar form was in daily evidence on Broad Street. Mr. HEFFRON was born in Mobile, Ala. April 27,1850, and came to Charleston with his father and mother when only one year old. His father established the wheelwright business on Calhoun Street soon after arriving in Charleston. The deceased learned that trade and continued it after the death of the father in co-partnership with his brother, Mr. Jas HEFFRON. They realized quite a competency and while engaged in that particular business he helped the poorer classes of people to buy homes, not only loaning them money, but giving them advice on lines of economy, which was one of the characteristics of his life. Many a home has been saved to those who followed his judgement, and while he taught economy he practiced it. He was a man honest to the penny in his dealings with his fellow men; he wanted his and only his and nothing more. It cannot be said of him that he gave wrong advice at any time; he often lost friends in deference of moderate treatment of those less fortunate in life. His loss will be felt by hundreds. He was unassuming, unpretentious and not one given to that display, which many of his means would evidence. To see him no one would think that in that modest man was embodied so many virtues that made the poor appreciative of him. Few knew of the scores who will miss him. He has left to mourn his loss a widow, three sons and one daughter. The funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Church this afternoon at 4 o'clock.
