We carry them within us all our lives--in the shape of our face, the way we walk, the sound of our voice, our skin, our hair, our hands, our heart. We try all our lives to separate ourselves from them, and only when they are gone do we find we are indivisible.

Our goal and interest of genealogy research is to know more about our heritage, both far and near. Once you start gathering more names and dates you will be hooked for life, because there is always an Aunt or Uncle you could find more information on. The going may be rough at times and may be costly, however it will also bring you rich dividends. What has been preserved in Germany for hundreds of years should be written and made available to future generations of Weisert's.
It does a lot for our self esteem to be able to trace and know more about our Weisert and Reagan ancestors who contributed to our being here, and to whom we owe so much. This is not altered by the fact that on the Weisert side we find our ancestors possibly fought in the German army, on the Reagan side, some of them may have been slave owners, in the Civil War some fought with the Confederate Army and some with the Union Army. This part of our Reagan side we found to be most fascinating, we never knew what to expect next. They were a link in the line leading to you and me, though there was many miles separating them, fate brought them together. So, along with all those wonderful Weisert's and Reagan's you are proud to claim, and the illustrious forebears that many of us have, be prepared to find out that your Great-Great Uncle married a first cousin, or your ancestor was found on the prison census index instead of in a home, it could be worse.
Some researchers only deal with the positive side of their family history to prove how superior their family was, this is not the situation with this book. No family line is perfect, if it were we would not have had so much fun and excitement writing this book and sharing it with each member of the family. On one occasion, Noreen and I found a woman had married her Uncle. Knowing this to be "hopefully a mistake", we set out to find more complete and documented sources on their relationship. Their marriage record indicated this to be true, we found after this, nothing was impossible.
