FAUGHT Andrew Jackson Faught, A.J. Faught, aged 79 years, died at his home on Wood Avenue Monday evening. Mr. Faught was a well known citizen of our city and resided here for many years. A number of grown children survive. Funeral services will be held from his residence this, Wednesday, after noon by Rev. A J Faught (another obit), an old resident aged 78 years died March 16. His funeral was held Wednesday March 19, with Charles L Wood as undertaker. The Times refers to his daughters as follows. Death won in a race against a railway schedule yesterday, and A J Faught aged father of Mrs. Edward Clark and Mrs. Loran Rose, of this city, died at his home in Jackson, a short time before his daughters reached his bedside. Mr. Faught, who was 78 years of age was stricken with paralysis Sunday and died between 4 and 5 o’clock Monday afternoon. Both daughters took the B &O SW for Jackson yesterday immediately upon being telegraphed of their father’s illness. They are now in Jackson for the funeral. A.J. Faught (another obit) was born in Jackson County, Ohio, August 30, 1834. Was united in marriage to Margaret Radcliffe in 1859, to whom were born 17 children, 6 of whom are dead and 11 living. Died in Jackson, Ohio, March 17th, 1913, aged 78 years, 2 months and 17 days. He was good husband and loving father. A.J. Faught (another obit), one of Jackson’s well-known and respected citizens, passed away Monday evening at his home on Wood Avenue. Mr. Faught was 79 years of age and leaves several children. Mrs. Anna Sarah Faught, The body of Mrs. Faught, who died at her home, 303 E. Town St. last night, will be sent to Jackson, Oh. today be Denton & Donaldson Co., where funeral services and burial will be Wednesday. She was 46. Born in Jackson, Mrs. Faught had been a resident of Columbus 18 years. Surviving are her husband, James Faught; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Underhill and Miss Bernadine Faught; six sons, James, John, Carl, Earl Paul and Claude Faught; one grandchild, two sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Sarah Faught (another obit), 45, a former resident of this county, died Sunday night at her home in Columbus following a comparatively brief illness. She leaves her husband, James Faught, and the following children: James, John, Carl, and Earl Faught, all of Columbus; Paul and Claude Faught, of Ironton; Mrs. Dorothea Underhill, of Columbus; and Miss Bernadine Faught, of Ironton. Joseph Faught, 69, a resident of Number 12, died at the home of his son Hershel, yesterday afternoon at 2:45 o’clock. He was a miner by occupation, and has lived in the territory where his death occurred for many years. He is survived by seven children; Herschel Faught, Mrs. Alvin walton, Dell Roy; Travis Faught, Athens; Everett Faught, Steubenville; Mrs. Callie Barnes, Columbus; Mrs. Victor Powell, So. Webster; Miss Jessie Faught, Cincinnati. Four sisters and four brothers also survive as follows: Mrs. Viola Beatty, Lancaster; Mrs. Jessie Clark, Ironton; Mrs. Maggie Rose, Portsmouth; Mrs. Sadie Bachell, Jackson; Herbert Faught, Columbus; Simon Faught, Jackson; George Faught, No. 10; James Faught, Columbus. He also leaves fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Junior Order of American Mechanics. Lelander (Babe) Faught, 78, passed away Wednesday morning at his home on Mitchell Avenue. Death came at 4:48 a.m. for the retired coal miner as a result of complications following a year’s illness. Born in Jackson County, the deceased is survived by one brother, Charles, of the same address. The remains are at the Sperry Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday be the Rec R.L. Fisher. Oscar Faught, age 85, of 1050 Middle street, Springfield, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 17th, at 11:30 a.m. The deceased, a Jackson resident for many years, was born in this city December 12th, 1869, and , for many years, was a moulder employed in local industries. He is survived by his wife, Della, and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Faught McCormick, 222 North Bennet Avenue, Jackson. Also surviving is one step-daughter. Funeral services will be held at the littleton Funeral Home in springfield at 10:00 a.m. Friday. FURNISS Ella Anderson Furniss, daughter of John and Adelia Anderson, was born January 11, 1872 and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Ruth Alspaugh of Orient, April 14, 1945, aged 73 years, 3 months, 3 days. She was united in marriage to John M. Furniss February 16, 1891. Her husband, one son and one daughter preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn their loss three daughters, Ruth Alspaugh, Orient; Alice Purcell, Ashville; and Eunice Rinehart, Marysville; one step daughter, Gertrude Hatcher of Youngstown. Five sons John, White, Woodson, Theodore of Orient and Harold of Harrisburg. Thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Josie Ward of Orient; Mrs. Alice Jewett of Tampa, Florida; Mrs. Hannah Moss of Circleville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Whitson of Derby and a host of other relatives and friends. She spent her entire life in Pickaway County. She was a member of the Orient Methodist Church and attended as long as her health permitted. She was a kind and loving mother, patient in her suffering and she will be sadly missed by all.
So live that when thy summons comes to join the innumerable caravan, which moves to that mysterious realm, where each shall take his chamber in the silent halls of death, thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night, scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave, like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him, and lies down to pleasant dreams. * * * We wish to extend our sincere thanks to relatives and friends for sympathy and kindness shown us during illness and death of our mother, also for the beautiful floral offerings.
