GEARHEART Bryson H. Gearheart, 63, Milford, died June 8, 1996, at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. He was born January 2, 1933 at Greenup County, Ky, the son of Peter and Pollie Shepherd Gearheart. He attended school in Kentucky. He worked for the railroad, and was drafted in the U.S. Army on April 8, 1954, at Columbus, Ohio. He was married to Caroljean Johnson at Niceville, Fla. On May 7, 1962, he retired from the U.S. Army on Feb 1, 1975, at Fort Riley. In the Army, he had served with the 82nd Airborne in Korea, and later was stationed in Germany with the 33rd Armor. The family has lived in Milford since 1973. He was the previous owner of the Chapman Mobile Home Estates in Chapman and was the owner and operator of the Gearheart Rental and Services in Milford and Chapman. He was a member of the Salina Moose Lodge #721 and the Chapman American Legion post #240. He is survived by his wife, Caroljean, of their home in Milford; one son, Gail (Gary) Gearheart of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia; two daughters, Carolann Davis of Mary Esther, Fla., and Yvonne S. Gearheart of Ellington, Fla.; two half-sisters, Evelyn McDonald of Lucerne Valley, Calif. and Roberta Snyder of Columbus, Ohio; one step-sister, Sally Lucas of Laurelville, Ohio; and two half brothers, Peter Gearheart of Westerville, Ohio and Ralph Gearheart of Johnstown, Ohio. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Bryson Eugene Gearheart, five brothers, one sister, and one half-brother. Military services were held June 14 at the Custer Hill Post Chapel at Ft. Riley, Chaplain Major Arthur J. Wienandt will officiate. Burial was at the Milford Cemetery. Eva Gearheart, DEATH CALLS MRS. EVA GEARHEART AT ARGILLITE, KY. Russell—Mrs. Eva Gearheart aged 75 years, 11 months and 15 days passed away, Sunday morning at 9:10 a.m. at her home in Argillite, Ky. Mrs. Gearheart is the mother of the former Mrs. Nuckles of Flatwoods, Ky., well known in Russell and Flatwoods. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. W. M. Gearheart in October 1927. Mrs. Gearheart was well known and beloved to a great many friends in Greenup County. She is the mother of twelve children, eleven of which are living, 87 grandchildren of which 69 are living, 46 great grandchildren of which 38 are living. She was preceded in death several years ago by her daughters, Mrs. Albert Sullivan. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. J.C. Griswold of Argillite, Ky., Mrs. P.H. Stevens, Mrs. Howard Riggles, Mrs. J. H. Stringer, Mrs. Richard Spradlin, Russell Gearheart and Pete Gearheart of Flatwoods, Ky., Mrs. G. H. Conser of Hinton, W. Va., W. M. Gearheart Jr. of Frankfort and George Gearheart of Wurtland, Ky. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, in the Advance M.E. Church with Rev. Gallion and Rev. Godby officiating. Interment will be made in the McKnight cemetery at Hoods Creek, with Herbert Greene of the Carman Funeral Home in charge.
George Gearhart, GREENUP, Ky.—George Gearhart, 67, of Columbus, Ohio, a former Greenup County residents, died Friday at Dayton, Ohio, hospital. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maudie Gearhart; a son, George L. Gearhart of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Howard and Mrs. Marie Berry, bothe of Dayton; a brother, Russell of Bellefonte; two sisters, Mrs. Pete Stevens and Mrs. Glenn Preston, both of Flatwoods, and four grandchildren. Services are to be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at J.R. Wright Funeral Home, with Rev. Willard Nicely officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 tonight. Mrs. Myrtle Gearheart, 45, of 2424 Wilson Ave., died Monday in Grant Hospital of cancer. Surviving are husband, Pete; sons, Briton, Ft. Bragg, N.C., Peter and Ralph, both of Columbus; daughters, Mrs. Sally Barnhart, Chillicothe; Miss Evelyn and Miss Roberta Gearheart, both of Columbus; mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Collins, Gallagher, W.Va.; sisters, Mrs. Marie James, Ashland, Ky., and Mrs. Eileen Meadows, Ironton, Miss Lottie Collins, Columbus; brothers, James and Paul Collins, both of Gallagher and Mearl, Ashland. Friends may call at the residence. The body will be taken to Flatwood Church, Greenup County, Ky., where services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Green Cemetery, Greenup County. Peter Gearheart, 65, of Lynn, Ky., died at 1:45 p.m. Friday at Mercy Hospital. A native of Greenup County, Ky., he was a retired worker of the Buckeye Casting Co. of Columbus, Gearheart was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church at Lynn. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Collins Gearheart. Surviving are his second wife, Minnie Simpson Gearheart; four sons, Bryson Gearheart of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jackie and Ralph Gearheart, both of Glendale, Calif., and Peter Gearheart Jr. of Columbus; three daughters, Mrs. Sallie Barnheart of Chillicothe, Mrs. Evaline Wiseman of Lynn, and Mrs. Roberta Snyder of Columbus; two brothers, Russell Gearheart of Bellefontaine, and George Gearheart of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Pete Stephens and Mrs. Glen Preston, both of Flatwoods, Ky.; and 25 grandchildren. Services are to be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at White Oak chapel Church at Lynn. Burial is to be in Green Cemetery at Greenup. Wm.H.Gearheart, born Feb 20, 1856, died Oct 31, 1927, at his home at Argillite, Ky., age 71 years, 8 months and 11 days. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Emma Griffith and Peter Gearheart of Argillite, Ky.; George of Ashland, Ky.; Russell, William, Mrs. Alpha Stevens, Mrs. Bertha Riggles, Mrs. Bess Nckles, Mrs. Francis Stringer, and Mrs. Martha Davis of Cheap, Ky.; and Mrs. Anna Sullivan of Stonington, Ky. The services were held today at the Hoods Creek Baptist church by Rev. Ned Galion. Interment in the McKnight cemetery under direction of the Stapf Undertaking Co. of Greenup. |
