side garden This lovely country home was the original Medbury Post Office built about 1870 and has been restored and modernised to suit todays lifestyle. Situated only 75mins from Christchurch International Airport it is easily reached for a days outing. Other options including stopping off on your way to the world famous Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort or if you are travelling through to our wonderful West Coast via the Lewis Pass then make a stop on your way. Medbury Road is signposted on SH7.
The garden of 1.2 acres was started virtually from nothing in 1989 with mainly shrubs in order to retain the wonderful view of the surrounding Southern Alps. Many additions came later.

Open from October to March it is an easy care garden laid out in rooms with many sitting corners from where the fragrance of over 200 roses, honeysuckle, Australian mint, spartium and much more can be enjoyed.

The weather patterns in North Canterbury can sometimes make gardening a challenging but rewarding hobby especially the very warm and strong Föhn winds which can be hard on plants and people alike. Winters have clear days and crisp frosty mornings which many plants prefer but late frosts can also be a source of frustration.
You would be made most welcome and we would be pleased to see you in our garden.
