"PAPPAW"

Pappaw was a quiet man.
who always had a loving hand.
With grandchildren upon his knee,
there was always room for me.
The stories he told have filled my heart,
with memories that will never part.
In the evenings on our knees,
holding hands so gently,
Pappaw would bless us one by one,
and say goodnight, the day was done.
In the mornings I would see,
Pappaw working so gingerly.
In the garden that he loved,
the flowers he grew he was so proud of.
So many things I want to say......
but its so hard, even today.

After our visit this holiday season,
I saw something that kept me believing,
Pappaw is alive today,
in your chair he has come to stay.
My children will now see,
the love Pappaw gave to me.
And the stories You will tell,
I think the role fits you well.
