224. John LOWRY was born on 12 Jun 1747. He died in 1800 in Anson County, North Carolina. There is an Anson County, North Carolina deed book dated 1831-1832, which reveals John died in 1800 and that his heirs signed an undivided estate of his over to Elizabeth Lowry.
225. Elizabeth LOWRY. The proof that Elizabeth is Elijah's mother is in a deed
recorded in Henry County, Tennessee, on February 22, 1832. The deed states:
Know all men by those present that I Elizabeth Lowry of Henery County and state of
Tennessee for and in consideration of the love and affection I have for my two children
Elijah Lowry and Sally Rushing who intermarried with Elijah Rushing. I give and bequeath
unto them the following slaves, Viz Elias aged about forty years, Rachael aged about
forty-five years, Zilphia aged about thirty years, Hannah aged about eight years, Sarah
aged about six years, and Thomas aged about three years in the manner and conditions as
follows. The above named slaves I wish to be kept all together until after my death in the
possion of my son Elijah Lowry or his heirs which shall be used and employed by my son
Elijah or his heirs as a compensation for my support during my life time. Then and after
my death by the virtue of these present the above named Elias, Zilphia, Hannah and Thomas
shall come in full possion to my son Elijah Lowry or his heirs with their increase, if
any, to have and to keep forever. The other two above named Rachael and Sarah after my
death shall be put in the possion of my daughter Sally Rushing as a loan during the life
time of my daughter Sally and at her decease they the Rachael and Sarah with their
increase if any shall be the property of the natural heirs of my daughter Sally Rushing
forever. This convegance of gift notwithstanding a want of form with its implied
conditions shall take effect with the date hereof and be of as full force as any bill of
sale whatsoever. In witness whereof I have here onto set my hand and seal this 29th day of
October, 1831.

State of Tennessee: Henry County Court December Four, 1831, the foregoing deed of gift
from Elizabeth Lowry to Elijah Lowry and Sally Rushing was scribited in open court and the
execution thereof duly proven by the oaths of Robert Lowry and John B. Jones the
subscribing witnesses thereto and was ordered to be so certified for registration. SIGNED
