The information about the Hunt family was contributed by Willie Jo BRASWELL Hunt.
The port of entry was either New York or New Orleans. His name could have been spelled McCooke or Cooke. When Grandfather Cook was making his journey over the seas to the USA, he happened to meet another young person making the same trip, her name was Maragret Josephine Clanahan. They must have had a lot in common for after their arrival in the states they continued their friendship and later married. Don't we love happy endings

Jeanette Peeples Carlton sent this information about her g-grandmother's brother, W.M. Sloan, known as "Doc" Sloan. It seems that Doc was a rum-runner during the 1920's prohibition days. He ran with the likes of Al Capone. Doc had a boat that he brought in booze from the Bahamas that had a machine gun mounted on the front. He was supposedly a pretty tough character.
