VALENTINE BRASWELL, SON OF RICHARD BRASWELL (1729-c1811)

 1. Valentine BRASWELL, fourth child of Richard and Obedience, was born in 1765 in North Carolina and died after 1830 in Walton County, Georgia. He was a resident of Greenville County, South Carolina, until 1817, in which year he purchased lands in Madison County, Georgia. Sometime after 1820 Valentine moved from Madison County to Walton County, Georgia.

 A list of the children of Valentine BRASWELL was prepared by the late Thomas W. Oliver, great grandson of Valentine BRASWELL, as follows:

 A. David BRASWELL, born in South Carolina in 1799, and died 1863 in Walton County, Georgia, Confederate States of America. He married Mary (Polly) Forester in 1818, Madison County, Georgia.

 B. Wesley BRASWELL, born 1801 in South Carolina, married Mary Ann New July 26, 1822, in Madison County, Georgia. One of the children of Wesley

 1. Marmaduke Braswell (two of his children Boling Braswell and Sally Braswell)

 Deed Book 20- Alexander BRASWELL was son of Jacob BRASWELL; Nancy BRASWELL was wife of said Jacob BRASWELL, May 28, 1833. Boling BRASWELL and Sally BRASWELL, children of Marmaduke BRASWELL, deceased, of Halifax, County, North Carolina were heirs in part of David Randolph, deceased December 21, 1832.

 C. William W. BRASWELL, born 1805 in South Carolina, bought lands on January 18, 1830, in Walton County, Georgia, from Allen J. Fuller. William W. BRASWELL is not listed as the head of a household in the 1830 Census but in the 1840 Census of Walton County, lists one male aged 30-40, and one female aged 20-30. On May 21, 1845, William W. BRASWELL and Rebecca M. Brown were married. Their children:

 1. Taylor BRASWELL

 2. Jonothan BRASWELL who married Nancy E. Moon in 1878.

 3. Isaac BRASWELL who married Georgia Robertson in 1875.

 4. Will BRASWELL

 D. Isaac D. BRASWELL is listed in the 1830 Census of Walton County as the head of a household: one male aged 20-30, one female aged 20-30, and two females under five years of age. Isaac D., as a resident of the 417th District of Walton County, participated in the "Gold Land Lottery" of 1832.

 E. Mahalie BRASWELL, born May 12, 1812, in Greenville County, South Carolina, and died March 22, 1869, in Walton County, Georgia, C.S.A. She married George F. Moore on November 11, 1830. He was born March 8, 1808, and died March 10, 1881. Their children:

 1. Jefferson Moore married Sidney (?).

 2. James Lacey Moore

 3. Dock Moore married (?) Rockmore.

 4. Jane Moore married Lump Palmer.

 5. Frederick "Fed" Moore

 F. Susannah (Susan) BRASWELL, born February 13, 1814, in Greenville County, South Carolina, and died September 22, 1865, in Gwinnett County, Georgia, C.S.A. She was the second wife of Samuel Oliver, born July 15, 1797, in Abbeville District, South Carolina, and died July 25, 1869. Samuel and Susan Oliver are buried in the BRASWELL Family Cemetery in Loganville, Georgia.

 G. Ephraim BRASWELL was born in Greenville County, South Carolina, March 16, 1816, and died November 16, 1887, Gwinnett County, Georgia. Ephraim and Dolly Moon, born January 15, 1816, died May 10, 1886, were married in Walton County, Georgia, January 7, 1841, and shortly thereafter moved to the Cates District, 36th subdivision of Gwinnett County. Children of Ephraim and Dolly:

 1. Sarah E. BRASWELL, 1843-1864 (death occurred in the C.S.A.)

 2. Mary Jane BRASWELL who married Rev. Andrew J. Webb.

 3. William Hampton BRASWELL married Lizzie Cooper.

 4. Elizabeth BRASWELL married Joe P. Rockmore.

 5. Susan Ann BRASWELL married John West Brand.

 6. John Wesley BRASWELL married Melitius Autine Tribble

 7. James Zachery BRASWELL married Emma J. Robertson in 1872.

 H. Jonothan Derrell BRASWELL, youngest son of Valentine BRASWELL, was born May 20, 1820, in Madison County, Georgia, and died after 1880 in Merriweather County, Georgia. His first wife was Elizabeth Logan of Gwinnett County. They had eleven children. Jonothan's second marriage was to Martha (Bean) Reid, who had one daughter, Mary, by a previous marriage. This marriage produced eight children:

 1. Derrell Hampton BRASWELL, born January 2, 1866, C.S.A.

 2. Robert Lee BRASWELL, born April 1868, C.S.A.

 3. Jonothan Taylor BRASWELL, born May 20, 1870.

 4. Eugenia BRASWELL, born November 15, 1872, and died June 23, 1874.

 5. L. Alonzo BRASWELL, born May 30, 1876, died the same day.

 6. David Marshall BRASWELL, born September 11, 1878.

 7. Howard H. BRASWELL, born May 7, 1880, and died August 1, 1884.

 8. Henry R. BRASWELL, born February 9, 1883.
