 James William Cone was the son of Hillory and Missouria (White) Cone. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

 James William was married 1st to Miss Annie Rowland who died a few years after their marriage. They had one daughter, Lelia (Mrs. W. H. Carter) Cone. He married 2nd. Miss Martha Nesmith. To this union three sons were born---James Braxton, Coy and Cary Cone.

 "The Saga of Choice and Sophia's first baby":

 This related to me by Braxton Cone, sone of James W. (Uncle Jim) Cone;

 Sophia's baby was due and the time had arrived. The baby was ready before the doctor had been called. Choice went out to saddle up his horse to ride to Coolidge for the Doctor. Sophia screaming for him to hurry. He threw the saddle at the horse and missed, the saddle going completely over the horse and landed on the ground on the other side. Sophia still screaming for him to hurry. He yelled back "Wait a minute Soph, for Gods sake, wait a minute." This is supposedly a true story, and Choice being a Cone I can believe it

 Hillory C. Cone was a Civil War soldier. He Volunteered with the Thomas County Rangers on 4 March 1862 and served with the Rangers until the end of the war.
