The King's Ball
Dance the night away French Colonial style as the town recreates a 250 year old tradition with period costumes, music and fun. A king and queen will be crowned.

Birthday Bash
Open House at the Felix Valle State Historic Site
The Felix Valle State Historic Site hosts a birthday party to honor the man for whom the house was named. Tours, entertainment and refreshments.

 

 
May 4 & 5, 2002
Garden Tours
Some of the area's most beautiful public and private gardens are visited. Tours will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Tickets for the tour will be available for purchase at the Interpretive Center on Main & Merchant Street. Garden tour includes six historic gardens and house tour includes six of the most historic French Colonial Houses in the Western World. Free events and demos by local artists are also scheduled for the weekend. Demos will include crochet,stained glass, pottery, leather craft, woodcarver and flute-making. Stormy Crawford of the World Bird Sanctuary will be judging the Bird House Contest at the Lion's Park on Market Street. Interactive exhibits will be hosted at the Lion's Park by Sophia Sacks, of the St. Louis Butterfly House. A presentation (slides and lecture) will be given by Connie Kayze (Medicinal Herbals of the Heartland) on Sunay, May 5th, at the Great River Road Interpretive Center from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Connie's books will also be available. Buggy rides will also be available throughout the weekend.

French Festival Memorial Day Weekend
The French Heritage Festival celebrates the 270 year saga of French in America, from Quebec, Canada to New Orleans, recognizing Ste. Genevieve with the greatest concentration of French Colonial architecture in North America. French historic interpretation with living history, music, dance, French cuisine, wine tasting, re-enactments, period dress, promenades, lectures, French colonial architectural tours, African American spirituals and work songs, Native American music performances, art, and story telling.

Felix Valle Site Open House
The Felix Valle State Historic Site opens its doors to visitors for a special, free event. Enjoy candlelight tours, French folktales, charming entertainment and refreshments. Enjoy an evening social gathering in the garden of the Felix Valle House from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A French folk dancing demonstration will begin at 8:00 p.m.

 

 
July 4, 2002
Independence Day
Fireworks, free entertainment and an old-fashioned concert in the park highlight the town's traditional Independence Day celebration.

County Fair
Exhibits, entertainment, rides, games, livestock shows, equestrian events, demolition derby, tractor pull, turtle derby and greased pig chase are all part of the fun-not to mention the chance to play cow chip lotto.

Jour de Fete
The midwest's biggest and best arts and crafts and entertainment festival is now in its 31st year, with even more of the attractions and events for which it has become famous. Featuring over 600 vendors, first-class entertainment, and fine food.

Jour de Fete 5K and 1 Mile Runs
A Run Through History In Missouri's Oldest Town - the 20th annual Jour De Fete 5K/1 mile races held in conjunction with Ste. Genevieve's summer celebration of the same name. The 5K is a challenging course featuring "Max" (Maxwell Hill) at about the 2.2 mile mark. Classic Cruisers Car Show
The twelvth annual Classic Cruisers Car Show will be held on the grounds of the Knights of Columbus Hall at 6th & Market Streets in Ste. Genevieve. Goody bags and dash plaques to the first 150 entries. Thirty-five classes with three awards per class. Food, beer and soda available by the Knights of Columbus. Dinner also available in air-conditioned hall. Registration from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., judging from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. and awards presentation at 3:30 p.m. Participant registration $10.00. Promenade des Artes
First Annual Tr-County Fine Art Show which will include three local Missouri art guilds from Ste. Genevieve, Jefferson and Perry counties. Plans are underway for the show's participating artists and the sponsoring organizations to honor the skills and talents of members of the original Ste. Genevieve Art Colony and Summer School of Art (1932 through 1941) by displaying some of their known surviving works of art.

Deutsche Tage
A German Festival
Ste. Genevieve offers a dramatic balloon lift-off, music, food, entertainment, crafts, demonstrations of colonial harvest crafts, and other special events.

 

 

 
December 7-8, 2002
Country Christmas Walk
Featuring Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, a Christmas parade, carolers, live nativity scene, old-fashioned tree-lighting ceremony, and shops stuffed with stocking stuffers and elegant gifts. The Les Petitis Chanteurs, a group of charming local children dressed in period costumes, will be singing during the Christmas Walk. On Sunday afternoon the Ste. Genevieve Wind Ensemble, Choir and Bell Ringers will perform traditional and non-traditional Christmas music at the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church. The musical program is open to the public free of charge.

An Old French Christmas
The Felix Valle State Historic Site hosts an old-fashioned French Christmas featuring customs of the early 19th century. The free candlelight event is a delightful evocation of Christmas long-past and sure to provide some extraordinary holiday memories.
