BAKER, JOSHUA, was born March 23, 1799, in Kentucky.
He graduated from West Point in 1819, and at his death on
April 15, 1893, he was the oldest graduate in existence. He
practiced law in Mary's parish, and in 1839 was appointed
judge. In 1867 he was appointed governor of the state by
General Hancock.
