Terry's 3M's
At 6:50 AM, I am sitting here with my second cup of coffee and listening to quiet for the first time since getting up over an hour ago. The puppies were hungry and now they have been fed, they're ready for a nap. I love coffee. Apparently a lot of people on the internet love coffee as well. When I was a regular in the #s.king chat room, people would sometimes play the perk wav or the pour wav as they left their computers for a bit to refill their cups. Also heard in channel were the caffeine wav ["caffeine'll kill ya!"], and several other wavs in reference to coffee. The is a webring for coffee lovers. I know that caffeine is addictive. And that the only difference between aspirin and Anacin is that Anacin is aspirin with caffeine. The reason why many people find themselves with headaches on the weekend is that they don't drink as much coffee on the weekends. The caffeine withdrawal causes the headache. That's why Anacin works better on weekend headaches than aspirin. There one thing good about caffeine, tho'. It speeds up the metabolism so that calories are burnt up a little faster. Of course, caffeine can be gotten in forms other than coffee. My secondary source of caffeine is Diet Pepsi. Coffee is great because I can drink it in so many different ways. My favorite way is with Coffemate's fat-free Swiss Chocolate creamer. After I got used to drinking it with that creamer, GF's Suisse Mocha seemed a little more bitter than I remembered. I can't find my favorite creamer of all time any more. It was made by the same company that makes Mocha Mix. It was a liquid creamer. I think it was called International Delights. Fat-free Kahlua creamer. It was smooth, chocolatey, and so wonderfully, sinfully rich. When I used to leave the house every morning [to pick up Johnny from his dad's apartment--he stayed with his dad at night and with me during the day] at 5 to walk up the hill on Bonanza to Maryland Parkway--and Maryland Parkway over to Stewart, I would take the large (holds at least 2 cups of coffee), insulated coffee cup with lid that 7-11 sold. I would put about a quarter of a cup of the Kahlua creamer in the mug. When I got to the top of the hill, I would go in the 7-11 there and fill the mug with coffee. I usually had 10 or 15 minutes to wait for the bus. The insulated cup kept the coffee hot and on a cold winter morning it felt so good to clasp my freezing hands around the warm mug and sip the delicious concoction within. No coffee has ever tasted as good since. At almost $3 a jar, I can't always get the Swiss Chocolate creamer as often as I'd like. I make an erstatz mix that while not tasting quite as good as the original, makes at least a semi-acceptable substitute. I just shake a couple of tablespoons of cocoa with about a cup of plain creamer. Then I put sweetener in the cup along with a teaspoon or two of the creamer mix. I started drinking coffee when I was 9. My aunt let me have instant Maxwell House with milk and a couple of sacchrin tablets. When I was 10 and went to live with my cousins, Isabel didn't want me to get fat again, so she wouldn't let me drink anything other than black coffee with my meals. When I was a young adult, I tried to make perked coffee without success. I never could get it to taste right. And following directions didn't help because I found that the stand measure for coffee was much too strong for my taste. So, I used instant. Then along came Mr. Coffee. Finally, I found a way to make ground coffee that actually tasted good! I've learned what I like and don't like through the years. I don't like flavored ground coffee. I like Columbian coffee. I don't like French Roast.
Well, kids are up now and demanding attention. Gotta stop writing for now.
