1860 | Strathroy and Wardsville were authorized to get grammar schools. |
1871 | Grammar schools got new name of 'high schools' |
1872 | Parkhill got authorization for high schools. |
1878 | Western University founded but then sat dormat from 1885-1895. |
1888 | Lucan and Glencoe got authorization for high schools. |
1899 | London Normal School was build to train teachers. |
1907 | Continuation classes began extending local education to grade 11. |
1921 | Adolescent Act passed extending
the age that one could leave school from 14 to 16 yr and continuation school (junior high) was expanded. First Junior High was in Melbourne in
1909 but by 1924 Ailsa Craig, Belmont, Coldstream, Deleware, Dorchester, Ilderton,
Lambeth, MountBridges, Thorndale, and Melbourne all had extended Junior Highs. |
1969 | Ontario primary and secondary education consolidated into County Board of Education. |
