Melvin & Emma Blood Woodruff(Seated) Iva Hamblin Goller & John Goller and Cloah Blood Hamblin & Eber Hamblin

By her first marriage, Emma H. Blood had at least one daughter, Ethel Brown. Ethel was married at least three known times. Her husband's last names from what we know were 1. Root, 2. Phillips, and 3. Hopkins. According to family information, Ethel died in 1969, possibly in the state of Washington. Two of Ethel's known children were Albert Phillips and Carrie Phillips.

Emma Blood's genealogy can be found in Ancestry.com by entering Melvin Woodruff in the search. This gives a shorter list. His name is on the 2nd page in the choice of Ancestry World Tree about half way down the page. Look for Emma's name under spouse. This will show her family. The work here was provided by one of her siblings descendants in the Hiler family, but was not intended for that site. That is a mystery for now. It is easy to see that he has done a lot of work and we are so glad that we have found it. We have learned more about the couples in the above picture. Cloah Blood Hamblin is one of Emma's sisters. Iva Hamblin Goller is Cloah's daughter and Emma's niece. My new cousin descended from this line and has a surname list in Rootsweb of other related families in her line. I can nolonger find that list, but her web page I attached to Iva's name, which shows Iva's daughter Gladys Leone Goller married to Volney Coy Thompson. Now I have lost Susan, so I hope she will reconnect. Go to rootsweb and in their search enter John Goller. In the data that comes up choose the surnames lists. Emma H. Blood Brown's second husband was Melvin A. Woodruff. Melvin was born on February 14, 1863 in Akron, Ohio and Emma in Englishville, Michigan. They were married on February 14, 1891. Melvin had been a farmer and was well known in the area for his work in the dray business for 18 years. They had two children:

Fred & Mary Woodruff Jarvis	Carl & Ulah Rickel Woodruff

1. Mary Woodruff was born on February 9, 1892 in Michigan. She married Fred Jarvis on December 2, 1910 in Michigan. The cities are not known for her birth and marriage, but could be in or near Benton Harbor. She lived a long life and passed away in 1982 in Benton Harbor. Fred was a son of Roman Jarvis a known politician. While I am finding his history I would also like to add a link to one of Roman's brothers histories. Frank C. Jarvis,D.D.S. had a piece of history out in rootsweb. I also foun the birth of one of Roman's siblings Coriton . Fred & Mary Jarvis had one daughter,Violet Jarvis. Violet was born on January 31, 1912. She married Guy Arthur Chilton, Sr. in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Guy died in 1978 and Violet died on March 16, 1998 in St. Joseph, Michigan. Violet and Guy had four children.
   • Their first son married into the Tregonning and Witt families.
   • Their second son married into the Weed family. His wife is the granddaughter of Pearl Woodruff Weed and the great-granddaughter of Grant Woodruff. We have their wonderful wedding pictures which include Mary in the family group picture.
   • Their third child, a daughter, married into the Hull family
   • and their fourth child, also a daughter married into the Wilson family. I hope that this is the correct order. I was so glad she wrote and corrected me on this. If you are ever in Northern Michigan and want to kick back and chat with the family there you might want to make reservations at their 5 Lakes Resort. 2. Carl Woodruff was Mary's brother and was the son of Melvin & Emma. He was born on March 4, 1898 in Paw Paw, Michigan. He married his "Valentine", Ulah Belle Rickel Woodruff on February 12, 1920 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Ulah was born on June 5, 1899 to Samuel & Kate Burkert Rickel in Eaton, Michigan. I am squeezing in here with more history that went back on the Rickel (Rickle) related families. Our cousin Greg and others traced many generations of the Rickle's, then switched to the wife's maiden name of (Sarah) Boroughf (Boroff & other spellings) and went back some more generations, then switched to that one's wife to the Koser name which is from Germany and goes back to 1603. Too much history to add here, but hope to someday add a page with this line of connections. At the link you will need to go to the "search" in the upper right hand corner and enter "Boroff" this will take you to the picture of Custer with the veterans of the war of 1812, which includes John Boroff, whom we show in other files as Frederick Boroughf. It can be found in Ancestry.com as well. A new cousin who found us in 1992 has started her pages of family history. See her link on John Rickle, Samuel Rickel's father. Ulah passed away on October 15, 1970 and Carl passed away on February 4, 1973. Carl's work had been that of an orderly he reached out to all those around him. He even helped his great-granddaugher and four neighbor children through the chicken pox to the relief of our neighbor's in California. Carl and Ulah had one son:
   • Floyd, who was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan. As a child he had one of the early Americana Bears which we also played with as well. A couple years ago we proudly brought it to the Antique Road Show when it was in town. The price was not much, but in our hearts it is priceless. He may have been an only child, but his wife, Rosa, was the youngest of 13 children of the Kittson family.

   Floyd met Rosa when he joined the service and was stationed in Seattle. Rosa was working as an aide or similar position with her sister-in-law, Myrna, at one of the hospitals there. They all ended up at one of the USO dance halls and love sparkled in their eyes. Floyd had little time there and did not want to loose this lovely lady so they married soon there in Seattle. At the time of their 50th wedding anniversary we found a paper with their announcement and new home address. Before he had to sail out Rosa was expecting her first child.

   Floyd and Rosa had four daughters. These daughters are their blood children, but they had many, many more thoughout their marriage. They helped raise nieces, nephews, foster children, Cuban children, and so many more. They also took in the elderly women giving their daughters a multitude of grandparents. Their love was too great to keep to themselves. Here I will list the daughters that they had, they are:

   • Their eldest daughter is a nun. She has held many "hats" in her work and is warmly noted for being the "flying nun" as her work has kept her busy all over the place.
   • Their second daughter is noted for her geneaological work with both the Kittson and Woodruff families and those families related to them. She has been noted in the credits of some of the books she has been able to provide history for...most recently that of "Very Close to Trouble-The Johnny Grant Memoir" by Lyndel Meikel.
   • Their third daughter had one daughter who just had her 2nd baby. Hopefully one of her children will carry on the family history. This is what the family leaves to these children and any others to follow from this line. A special picture has been taken at Chucky Cheese to match the ones of their mother & grandmother when they were small. We can no longer find the fish ride, so I am sure the car ride at Chucky's matches todays new history.

   • Lastly their fourth daughter is noted for her continuous computer obsession and with trying to get this history to all the relatives with the least amount of trouble albeit the continued criticisim by sister number 2 for spelling, grammer, and history errors.

A new arrival has come to the family tree! On January 25th, 2002, Miss Gabriella Rose has come to join her parents Chelsea & Alan with a big smile on her face. She carries a beautiful blend of all her families whose blood runs through her vains. She is too little yet to join her mother and grandmother in their "fish" pictures. No doubt she will want to play with her many young cousins as she grows up. This has been a busy year for babies. Now Miss Gabriella is a big sister to her little brother Max and what a joy they are to our precious family line. We pray they have years of joy ahead of them. I will add their pictures soon.
