ATTACHMENT 1
The following Classroom Discipline Plan for Strategies for Solving Math Problems has been developed and will be in effect at all times.
Expectations of Appropriate Student
Behavior
General Expectations:
Students will...
1] be seated and ready to work when the bell rings.
2] not be disruptive (indulge in attention getting behavior).3] not use profanity or be disrespectful to other students or the teacher.
4] respect school property and help keep the classroom clean.
5] read, learn and follow the school rules printed on the first few pages of
the parent-student handbookSpecific Expectations:
Students will...
6] bring Student Success Binder, Student Planner, Interactive Student Notebook, paper, and pencils to class every day.7] follow all directions promptly.
8] complete all assignments on time.
If a student does not meet one or more of the
preceding expectations, one or more of the following consequences
will occur:
Consequences:
1st violation: a verbal warning
will be given. When needed, sometimes
the student is timed out to the back of the room or to outside
the door.
2nd violation: a disciplinary writing assignment (due the class meeting)
3rd Violation: student recieves a demerit, a timeout is assigned and an Action Plan is developed by the student, followed by a call home to the parents.
4th Violation: student recieves a second demerit and is sent to the principal or his designee and their parents will be called
to the office.5th. Violation: a third demerit will result in the student being suspended from classes at the AAE for up to three days by the principal or his designee. A maditory meeting with the parent, student and Principal will be held.
(see Parent/Student Handbook concerning 4+ demerits)
Before using any of the above formal consequences, I prefer to use reasonable and logical or "natural" consequences when possible. If a student is severely disruptive, he or she will be sent to the principal directly.
Incomplete Work: All class meeting assignments that are not completed on time will be taken home and completed as homework. {except when absent or when special circumstances apply}
Rewards for positive behavior include: catching a student being good, daily praise, occasional notes or phone calls home, seasonal class activities, no-homework nights, free time and class celebrations.
Take me back to the parent letter please...
