Hi Gayle,
Thank you for responding. The first I find of Macksfield Hensley(Henslee) in Caswell Co. is a 428 acre land grant 26 August 1778. His son John Hinsley (Henslee) received 640 acre grant dated 29 August 1778. Both grants were on Stoney Creek in St. David's District of Caswell Co.
Macksfield Henslee's will (1801) names wife Martha
Sons: John and David
Daughters, Mary Henslee, Susannah Oldham, Nancy Payne,
Grandaughters Sarah Henslee Thomison and
**Elizabeth Carey Mitchell (my Mitchell's)***Elizabeth Carey Mitchell's father was William Mitchell (died 1794: my 5th g grandfather).
It is also interesting that Macksfield Henslee and William Mitchell refer to each other as good friends on several occasions in documents. They also received their land grants on the same day!
William Mitchell's children (the older ones) list their birthplace in later census records as VA. Also William Mitchell was a Rev. War vet. Perhaps the same for Macksfield Henslee. This is about all I have besides a few real estate transactions and a pile of notes that I have not had time to sort through since my trip to Caswell Co. I hope to go back there this fall. I am also waiting on church records for the Stoney Creek Presbyterian Church in Alamance Co. NC. The Mitchell's went to church there and there are some Henslee's buried there. I am checking on the possibility that the Henslee's also attended church there. It was just a couple of miles from their homes on Stoney Creek in Caswell.
