Thru The Years

I promise not to bombard you with alot of photos. Just a few very special ones. Some were taken while we lived in Japan, and some were taken while in Maryland. One week after Kevin and I were married(1985), he went on to Japan. Brandy and I didn't have all the papers in order to go with him so we had to follow 3 months later. That was a scarey time for me, going to a new country and leaving my family for 3 years.Brandy was 15 months old when we got married, and 18 months old when we got to Japan. But we made the flight, and if it could go wrong it did. We had a horrible experience just trying to get there. I still remember having to sleep on the USO airport floor for 2 nights. But we finally did make it to the land of the rising sun. And what a case of culture shock it was for me. First of all they drive on the opposite side of the car, and opposite side of the road. And lets not forget that whole different language thing. That took some getting used to, but the food was so delicious and we miss it alot now. Once you have had the real stuff, you are never satisfied with the stuff made in the states, its just not the same. But oh the memories, where we went it was very cold and we had alot of snow, more than I had ever seen thats for sure. That first year I truely thought I would freeze to death. I stayed camped out in front of the kerosene heater the whole winter. It snowed from November till late April and sometimes into May. I remember one time we had a blizzard come and we could barely open our doors. And in that same blizzard, our dog Chubacca( we also called him Chewy as Brandy at that time couldnt say Chubacca) got buried in his dog house and we had to dig him out, but first we had to find his house. The poor thing, he needed out badly, I remember how happy he was to see us.I experienced my first Earthquake here, I remember thinking at the time, is my house gonna make it thru this. It was a scarey thing to go thru. Our daughter Melissa(1987) was born in Japan just 1 1/2 years later, she was 18 months old when we left.

We left that area and went to another city in Japan to live, it was very close to Tokyo. I loved it there, the weather was a bit more to my liking, not as cold in winter and no snow. We often went to Tokyo and experienced many things. We saw the Emperiors Palace, Ueno Park& Zoo, Tokyo Tower, we also experienced the Train and Subway Systems and even got pushed by the profesional pushers, now what that means is, that at certain times of the day the trains get so overloaded with people, that they have people on the outside of the train, literally pushing people in until they can get no more. This was fun, and Very Crowded let me tell you,but don't you dare breathe.A funny story(its only funny now after years, but at the time it was not funny) that goes with that topic was this, once we were coming back home from I think it was Tokyo Disneyland we caught the train at the wrong time and well you guessed it, at one of our stops, Kevin and Brandy got seperated from Melissa and I. Well Melissa got scared because of all the people suddenly in the train, and I reached down and picked her up. Well she somehow caught me in the eye with her fingernail, and scratched my Cornea, so I couldnt see anything. Now here Kevin and Brandy were on the other end of the train, and I was at the other end with Melissa and can't see at all, my eye was hurting soo bad, luckily a nice japanese man helped me to get to Kevin when the train stopped, which just happened to be our stop also. I was a mess, couldn't see and felt completely useless. Kevin had to walk with me holding my arm and watch the girls too, thru a crowded train station. We made a trip to the doctors as soon as we got back home and it took my eye a few weeks to heal from that ordeal. We made several trips to Tokyo Disneyland which was always so much fun. We also saw many of the differnt festivals. We have lots of wonderful memories from our experiences in Japan. We spent a total of 6 1/2 years there.

Then it was back to the states for us, for almost 7 years we were then in Maryland. We had lots of family members to come and visit, which we so enjoyed. We gained our 2 sons Kyler(1995) and Corren(1997)while living there. We saw all the sites in Washington D.C.( I won't name them all there are just too many,) and several of the famous battlegrounds in the area. We also made all the rounds to the amusement parks, and to Hershey Park. Then our time was up there, and here we are in Spain now. We have only been here for 7 months, but I absolutely love it here. Well I guess its time now for some photos, so sit back and check them out. And if you are still here with me, thank you for your patience. I seem to be very long winded.
