Cain brought an offering of some fruits of the soil to God; his brother, Abel, brought God an offering of fat portions from some of the first-born of his flocks. So why didn't God like Cain's offering of some fruits but like Abel's offering of fat portions? Doesn't God like fruits of the soil? No, that's not it at all.
The Bible doesn't say why God didn't like Cain's offering but maybe it was because Cain wasn't living his life in a very good way. In Proverbs 21 : 27 it says that the sacrifice of the wicked is detestable to the Lord and in 1 Samuel 15 : 22 that to obey is better than sacrifice, so maybe this is why.
Anyway, we know that God does what is right, that he loved Cain and gave him the chance to get it right but instead of doing the right thing, Cain showed his true colors ( showed what he was really like ) when he got so angry that he planned to and then killed his brother Abel.
Sometimes when someone does better than us or someone tells us off we can get angry or jealous. What we need to do is think, OK, what can I do to do better. Don't get angry with the person but admit if you don't do what you should and try again.
